I just finished reading Catcher in the Rye and I did not care for it at all. Wanted to read it because of the publicity, but maybe because I am a grandmother, I just didn’t like it. I just finished Dream Catcher by J. D. Salinger’s daughter, a book I greatly enjoyed and think his daughter is a remarkable individual. However, the book seemed extremely juvenile to me. Most of the content was given to sex and I can see where young boys and perhaps girls would enjoy it. Not something I would have ever cared for but it had a lot of unnecessary profanity. It speaks to me of a young man who was mentally ill, I am sure that a label could be put on it today. I am not so sure it was not actually describing Salinger himself. After reading his daughter’s book, I think Salinger definitely had mental illness, what I would call crazy. His family had to endure awful things because of him. He chose to be a recluse, and did not live in the real world, wanted to live in isolation.

The reviews here are spot on and have some useful set up tips. Note that this is not a true steamer – you add hot water, but the machine does not actually heat the water. But for the type of cleaner in its class, it’s been fabulous. Really pulls back up the water, which speeds up the drying time. Was a bit intimidated when all the pieces/parts tumbled out of the box, but set up was pretty painless and quick. I’ve been giving this a work out with 2 accident prone aging pets. You’ll be shocked how much grime this sucks up out of your carpets. Agree with the other reviews about wishing that the tanks had larger capacity. And the tanks have various crevices that make it a bit difficult to fully drain and dry after use. But don’t let that deter you from purchasing.

I was recommended the furminator by a friend for my pomeranian. I was tired of having so much fur on my clothes from holding him, that I was ready to just get him shaved. My friend told me about the furminator, I decided to go through amazon because it was cheaper than the pet store. My dog loved it! And it really works, the first time i got a huge ball of fur collected almost bigger than my dog, and over the next few days less and less, its not longer all over my clothing, floors and furniture!

I have two Transcend 8gb SDHC cards and two 16gb SDHC cards. About three weeks ago, I had one of the 16gb SDHC cards fail on me. The card was bought new from Amazon and inserted and tested before use. It worked flawlessly, recording photos and I was able to download them successfully. I filled one of the 16gb cards while on vacation and started on the second. It worked fine the first day. The second day, I hiked 1.5 miles through a canyon and climbed about 300 feet. I then took about 40 photos when the card failed. My camera, a Canon XSi, flashed a message “card not formatted.” I inserted a backup card and continued shooting. But I have never been able to recover the lost files. I have tried four different card recovery programs. Only one of these was able to identify the Canon CR2 files, but could not recover the files in a form that any software program (e.g., iphoto and photoshop) could open. Two programs were unable to find any data at all on the card. The most frustrating part of this experience has been the attitude (”get lost and don’t bother us”) of the Transcend technical support people in Los Angeles. I emailed them three times over two weeks without a reply. I then called, and finally was advised how to download their own card recovery program. I ran this program and it found Nikon NEF files on the card. Strange! I don’t even own a Nikon camera and only used the card for two days with my Canon camera. The putative “NEF” files were unreadable. Upon informing Transcend support of the failure of their software, I was told mechanically to use it again. Endless emails and voicemail messages were not returned. I can only conclude that this is a common problem with Transcend cards, and the company has no solution, and therefore sees no point in wasting time with customers. So, purchase at your own risk. I have had a 25 percent failure rate, and learned that just because a Transcend card performs initially, it can still fail at any time an

I bought two Canon Compatible Black toner cartridge (0263B001AA, FX-9, FX-10, type 104) 2K page yield from Vivamart. It says Type The cartridge jams paper every time we print. I sent seller an email today, waiting for their reply. I will keep every one posted on this.

So I live in off-campus housing for school, and my car is usually parked in a parking garage for a better part of the month. The problem with having the little suction cup is that if its still there even with out the GPS, there is a risk of it being stolen (theft is a very common occurrence on a college campus). Then taking it off becomes a hassle, since well A) there is a residue on the windshield and B) the hope that successive reapplications of the suction cup will actually hold after the suction cup has either collected dust or become brittle.
The solution? Well this friction mount works really well. At first I though perhaps it would slip off, but the rubber mount and the weight (little bean bag weights) hold it down firm. I don’t have to worry about the windshield residue or even taking something off my windshield anymore. All I do is park my car, take off my GPS and take it with me (I never leave it in my car) and then take the mount and stuff it just in front of the passenger’s seat. Works perfectly!
The only complaints I have is that its a little bulky but often times it is still possible to hide. Also, the constant removal from the dash to the floor does get some dust underneath so you have to brush it off every now and then.
All in all, very useful product. As long as you’re not making sudden turns (and I mean like practically drifting) then this thing will just stay in place. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to replace that annoying suction cup on the windshield.

So amazon recently gold boxed this at $125…..wow am I glad I plunged. What a product. I use it in a very basic manner….go out for a jog and keep track of my stats as I go. Go home, plug it in. Basic accountability on what I have done. Can’t wait to test it on a bike.

Book-Water for Elephants A very different book. Not bad reading, but far from exceptional. Would rate it a three and one half stars.

Great book! Never read a book like this before but it really brings to life the [train] traveling circus experience from an insider’s ‘learn as you go’ POV during the Depression era. There is such an ominous feel throughout the entire book that I never expected an ending as such… I actually thought it would be more depressing, but I’m not disappointed.

I’ve had this Omron Pedometer for over a year during which it has performed faultlessly. I’ve had to change the battery once.
Last night the unit went through a wash in my fast spinning front loading washing machine. It came out with the screen fogged and not working. I opened up the back with the three tiny screws and dried it out with a hairdryer. Now it works like new! Tough little pedometer.
