Prevention All Time Best
The Defender is a great product and offers a much higher level of protection than any other case I’ve seen, but it’s not foolproof. I have probably dropped my iphone about 20 times since got it in Nov. However, on Christmas eve I had it laying in my lap and stood up. My iphone dropped to the tile floor and when I picked it up the LCD screen was white with blue and red lines running the length of the screen on the right side. I took it to a repair shop and had to have the screen replaced. I too have the oil slick issue but its not a big deal to me. The biggest problem is the reason that I have dropped it so much is that every time I have it in the belt clip and happen to bump the belt clip even with my arm or hand the phone will fall out of the clip. Since the screen replacement and the belt clip issue I just carry it in my pocket. I work construction and have pretty much ruined or broken every phone I’ve had, but thought that this case would maybe help this one survive. Sorry folks but the jury is still out.

I am writing this entry after just receiving notice that the author of this book, J.D. Salinger, has just passed away at 91. I am living proof, although I am sure no alone on this account , that the teenage angst that preppie Holden Caulfield, the narrator of “Catcher In The Rye”, was caught up in his immediate post-World War II generation was contagious all the way down at the bottom of society to housing project kids like me later on. Needless to say this high school assigned-reading was one of those books that I devoured at one sitting, if I recall correctly. But here is a better perspective on the book. Some books you read once and move on. Others you read, re-read and live out, including on a trip to New York a stay at the old Taft Hotel. How is that for having a more than a literary effect on the reader. Only Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road” had more. So long, J.D.
I’ve used this 16GB SDHC card as extra storage for my HP Mini, which has a 16GB SSD instead of a large regular hard drive. Effectively, this doubles my storage for cheap, and the card is plenty fast enough for accessing documents and music. I’ve had it for about 6 months, have it full of music, keep it in my Mini all of the time, and haven’t had any problems yet.
Amazon’s frustration-free packaging is nice too.

This is basically a “coming-of-age” story. So to speak. It’s about two women who meet in college in the 70’s and become best friends. It’s told through the eyes of Clare Mann. It follows Clare’s friendship with Sally from college to the present. There’s no plot. It’s just a long and at times boring story about their friendship through the years. Had I been Clare I’d have dumped Sally like a hot rock after about the second visit to California to visit her. Sally never goes to Ohio to visit Clare. Some best friend! All Sally does is whine to Clare all the time. I don’t even know why I finished this book. I guess I wanted to see how many kids Sally wound up having, and if Clare would ever tell Sally what actually happened to her brother, Ben. I couldn’t help but notice this is the author’s first novel and she’s a physican in Dayton, Ohio. I think Martha Moody should stick with her day job.

I bought this book when I visited Best Friends about 2 years ago but only just read it. Why the delay? I was expecting lots of negative stories – people abusing animals, etc. When I finally picked the book up to read I zipped through it quickly amazed at the powerfully positive messages. Yes, there are stories of the bad things that humans do to animals but these are used to highlight the good things that humans can do if they make the choice to care.
Almost more than the animal stories are those of the people who made Best Friends real. The compassionate people who saw a need and, out of their own pockets, decided to make a difference. Although the organization became (and is) public it began as a labor of love.
If you love animals you will find this book one of hope and passion. It made me wish I could pack up and move to Kanab, UT to become a full-time volunteer!
Read the book and, if you haven’t already, visit the sactuary itself. It’s truly a testament to what love can do.

The Best of Bonnie
I don’t know anything about this watch, but my husband wanted it for Christmas so I surprised him with it, and at first he didn’t think he would like how big it is, but once he ran 8 miles he said he LOVED IT, and it was PERFECT! He runs everyday 8 miles a day. Great buy!
