The only thing the book has going for it is plot momentum, but even there, as other reviewers have noted, several plot developments strain credulity. The “dialect”, again as other reviewers have commented, is inconsistent and inaccurate. The characters are cardboard, each one animating a different stereotype. That said, the hapless white cracker and her husband are amusing. A better writer might have been able to develop the genuine issue at the heart of the book – the twisted and complicated relationships between white women and the black women who toil for them and their families.

We have this humidifier in our bedroom, and however it generates the mist, it is quiet. We do, however, hear a gurgling all night as the water enters the working part of the unit, and my wife thinks it’s my stomach. At least it’s just a gurgle. The unit can run all night and the humidity reading does not change, but the room does feel less dry. My nose has not dried out near as much and we both seem to sleep better since we started using the humidifier. I purchased this brand/model after reading many good reviews, but it is pricey and I think I should have checked Costco before making the purchase. One item sorta got to me. The warranty info says unless you register the unit within 10 days that the warranty is void. That should not be.

A story about doing the right thing and protecting those who can’t protect themselves (animals or people). This novel had me hooked from the beginnning. Your heart will swell and break and swell again, but you won’t be dissappointed.

Fun game but pieces are too small. This game is great and would be even greater if after every time we played we didn’t have to hunt for all the tiny pieces. My eldest is 4 but the baby is 20 months and Hi Ho Cherry-O is such an added headache because I’m so worried that the baby will find the piece we’re looking for before we do. We generally play when the baby is asleep but if a piece goes missing, we could be searching long after he wakes up. I wish these pieces were just a tad bit bigger (I’ll admit I can’t see very well) and a little less roll-y. Otherwise, we love the game!
